Will the sensibilities of millions be altered if the San Francisco Chronicle decides to fold?
Thoughts, commentaries, considerations welcome…
I think so. The rest of the “major” newspapers in the Bay Area (SJ Mercury, Oakland Tribune, Contra Costa Times) are owned by Media News. These papers already share content. The MediaNews newspapers have become more like USA Today (more entertainment related stories and fewer in-depth news reports). MediaNews has dominance over the newspaper market in every county in the region but San Francisco. But the SF Chronicle provides much better content of news stories, superior sports and business sections, a superior Sunday paper, and is just an overall better newspaper. If the Chron folds, there will be only one big player in the region. I don’t know about millions, but hundreds of thousands of SF Chronicle newspaper readers (like myself) will have their sensibilities altered to if the Chron closes shop.
Note: I subscribe to the SF Chronicle and a MediaNews newspaper (for the local content in the Tri-Valley).

San Francisco Fisherman’s Warf Hotels
San Francisco is a city of great architecture which is engulfed by beautiful fog. While in San Francisco you will never think of what to do. With so much attractions like the Alcatraz, the Golden Gate bridge, Almo Square.
Fisherman’s Wharf is San Francisco’s most popular destination. Known for its historic waterfront, delicious seafood, spectacular sights and unique shopping, Fisherman’s Wharf offers numerous possibilities for everyone. Its fabulous location in the ‘City by the Bay’, puts you within minutes of the Maritime Museum, Alcatraz, Coit Tower and everyone’s favorite, the world famous San Francisco Cable Car lines. Fisherman’s Wharf offers some of the most incredible views of the San Francisco Bay, the Golden Gate Bridge and the cityscape. It is a place from where you can plan what to do in San Francisco. It is the center of all activities and a very popular tourist destination of San Francisco.
If you are a tourist then you would definitely prefer to put yourself up the at the hotels at the fisherman’s wharf. You will find that your desire is well supported by the number of hotels in this area. You will find in the Fisherman’s Wharf that the hotels suit every budget and offer a lot of services. But what you have to do is to make prior hotel reservations as this area experiences a lots of visitors and finding a hotel at the last minute would be next to impossible. The restaurants at Fisherman’s Wharf are well known for the quality of the sea food offered by them. The hotels here provide excellent service with delicious food. You can always count on its rich sea food apart from the world’s delicacies which the restaurants here serve. so much for the coal to liquid plan that was designed to open up jobs and do away with the need for foreign oil….
I had heard about it since January…but not in the appropriate context….why would the reps wait until after votes couldnt be changed to release it…..???

The simple fact is that we have to clean up our energy. We really don’t have an option on this issue. What Obama’s proposing is a cap and trade program that will let the market dictate what happens. Companies and industries that invest in clean energy can sell their allowances to industries that are not as clean.
The net result is we allow a finite number of “units” and let the market dictate who uses those up. If the coal industry cleans up their act and implements clean coal technologies then they won’t need to buy as many units. But if coal continues to be a heavy polluter, then it will become increasingly expensive.
The whole idea is to let the free market drive innovation and conversion to clean technologies. Those industries that are dirty will eventually find that it’s cheaper to clean up than to keep buying expensive greenhouse gas “units”.
And for what it’s worth, John McCain supports a similar program.

I’m not just talking about global warming – which I’m not 100% sold on myself. I’m talking about pollution in general. The kind that makes the skies over cities hazy. The kind that produces acid rain. The kind that’s changing the pH of the oceans.
Sooner or later we have to move away from “dirty” energy sources and the longer we wait to do so, the longer it will be before we don’t rely on them. By creating a cap and trade program, you let the free market – or capitalism drive the innovation and conversion.
