One of the most successful musical exports from Canada, Rush, are currently touring to support the launch of their latest album Snakes and Arrows. After have accumulated highly impressive sales on four successive decades, winning about 40 gold and platinum discs while traveling an estimated 35 million albums around the world, progressive rock trio shows no signs of giving up either.

With Geddy Lee (vocals, bass and keyboards), Alex Lifeson (guitar) and Neal Peart (drums), Rush has been a constant success in the music industry worldwide as it has been a solid rock band since the release of his album debut in 1974.

With an extensive discography behind him, Rush has always been on the album, not the only one. The emphasis on instrumental skills combined with chief lyricist Neal Peart affection for science fiction and fantasy inspired lyrics, has not always been mostly pop and radio friendly.

Despite this, have managed to set a number of successes through the years, including Limelight, Fly By Night, Tom Sawyer, closer to the heart, the spirit of Radio, New World Man, and subdivisions.

His music has been popular as cover material for bands as diverse as Catherine Wheel and Audioslave, and Rush are often included in the lists of other artists of musical influences. For a good introduction to the band and some of their materials more accessible, in 1990 more than double CD release Chronicles, is a worthwhile purchase.

During the fever of the year have become cultural icons in Canada, even across borders to participate in the most unlikely of ways for a serious band, such as parody and comedy TV.

Geddy Lee with Bob & Doug McKenzie (SCTV brothers infamous Canadian) won in 1982 with their hit anthem Take Off, and the Canadian comedy series Trailer Park Boys features a character with a fixation Rush. 2004 An episode of the series was based on an appearance by Alex Lifeson, who was abducted from his hotel before a show and forced to perform a private concert at the trailer park.

Rush has built a solid reputation for incredible live performances and the band has released a half dozen live album recordings to support this. Currently on tour in Canada, this October sees the band injection his special brand of rock to a European audience, beginning with several dates across the UK.
