We have seen time and again that the current political environment is one of accountability and transparency: this is as evident in education as in the discussion about credit of appropriated funds. As a result of the drive measurable educational system, the Department of Education increased the qualifying questions in its annual survey colleges. However, when trying to collect more comprehensive information on performance students in specific schools, seems the Department of Education has ruffled a few feathers.

Due to questions said caused a huge reaction of this type, Grover Whitehurst, (Ed Director of Institute of Sciences Department of Education) said that the Department is likely to edit the poll, and is likely to remove a question asking if colleges use specific learning assessments and, if they did, to provide access to results.

As the performance-based education remains the exception rather than the rule, not surprisingly, an application for this type of "ownership" information was received critically.

In a separate story that places the same way, if not more emphasis in performance-based education, Bill Gates told Congress that the educational system of the United States has yet to resolve fundamental problems in education K-12. In an effort to double the rate of high school graduation, Gates is offering incentives to students to study math and science. In the bite of an much quoted sound, Gates said: "We can not sustain an economy based on innovation unless our citizens are educated in math, science and engineering. "Gates also noted two interesting things:

* About 30% of students in 9th not graduate high school on time

* Microsoft has been unable to fill about 3,000 jobs associated with high technology in the U.S. due to the shortage of workers

The adjective "mediocre" Gates applies to countries in public schools, it sounds a lot like Mike Bloomberg Wall Street Journal editorial dated December 14, "Flabby, inefficient, outdated".

Increasingly Performance Indicators are sought and implemented public education, these top stories attest to this.

According to the ordinary and inaccurate method of measuring time, a fortnight may have gone by since the event last narrated, and Honora had tasted at last the joys of authorship. Her name was not to appear, to be sure, on the cover of the Life and Letters of General Angus Chiltern; nor indeed, so far, had she written so much as a chapter or a page of a work intended to inspire young and old with…

Honora Leffingwell is the original name of our heroine. She was born in the last quarter of the Nineteenth Century, at Nice, in France, and she spent the early years of her life in St. Louis, a somewhat conservative old city on the banks of the Mississippi River. Her father was Randolph Leffingwell, and he died in the early flower of his manhood, while filling with a grace that many remember the p…

Lying back in the chair of the Pullman and gazing over the wide Hudson shining in the afternoon sun, Honora’s imagination ran riot until the seeming possibilities of life became infinite. At every click of the rails she was drawing nearer to that great world of which she had dreamed, a world of country houses inhabited by an Olympian order. …
